Located at 1326 m height, Briançon, the highest town in Europe (second town in Hautes-Alpes county) remains a winter station, belonging to the Serre-Chevalier skiing station.
At only five hours from Paris, eight hours from London, eight hours from Amsterdam, (note the railway station is at 350 m from the flat), Briancon is an ideal destination for summer or winter holidays, exceptional paradise for sportmen and sportwomen, as you can practise a lot of activities : walking, trekking, via ferrata, bicycle, rafting, VTT, alpinism... And, during winter time : skiing, snowboards, rackets, ice-climbing...
From Briançon, with the Prorel lift located close to the Casino games and at 250 m from the flat, you can ski on Grand Serre-Chevalier station with its 160 miles of slopes or join the Montgenèvre station (at 7,5 miles and at Italy/France border).
With its historical past and the variety of activities offered, Briançon has the Culture Ministery label of “Ville et pays d’art et d’histoire”. Visit are frequently organized to discover the fortified town, the Vauban forts and monuments.
This town of 11 inhabitants, is also well knowned for it’s exceptional climate, it’s geographical situation which ensure a 300 sunny days per year (at least 6 hours of sun per day), with humidity close to zero ! Since beginning of last century, Briançon is very well known as place for curing in order to cure breathing pathologies as asthm.
